Little NYX haul and review!

Last weekend I zipped down to the closest Ulta knowing I needed some new makeup for spring time. (also because I hadn't bought new makeup in a long time and I was running low on some necessities!) I went in knowing exactly what I wanted and exactly where in the store to get it; the NYX cosmetics section. I really like NYX because their products are all cruelty free, affordable, easy to find anywhere, and mostly a great quality! Their parent company is not vegan, but personally I don't hold that against them. Although some of their products contain beeswax and are therefore not technically vegan, I think this brand is a great option for anybody on a tight beauty budget like myself.

The first thing I did when I got home was dump them all onto my (dirty) coffee table and snap a photo, obviously.

I had really high hopes for this powder, and I really do think they were met. I'm a seventeen years old and I go to a public high school, so I don't wear any kind of liquid foundation or creme, and I really don't want to, but I do wear powder when I wear makeup. I feel like it's light enough that it doesn't look unnatural and it's quick to apply. I had finished my last pressed powder and needed a new one, so I decided on this NYX powder foundation which I got in the color Nude. I was intrigued by the idea of a powder foundation, and figured that it was basically just another pressed powder, but this powder has a much better coverage than a pressed powder! It also matches my skin tone well, and it glides on so smoothly with my Eco Tools brush. I really love everything about this product, from the packaging to the fresh and sweet smell.

I really wanted to try a concealer jar instead of liquid concealer, so I picked up the NYX concealer jar in the color Beige. I think that it has a much better coverage than any concealer wand that I've ever used, but the color is a tiny bit too dark for me, especially in the paler areas of my face. I couldn't get any of the lighter shades, however, because I have yellow-toned skin and the lighter shades all had pink undertones. Despite the darker shade, (which blends in and isn't a big deal,) I have really liked this product. I've been using my Eco Tools concealer brush to apply this, which I prefer to my finger.

I really needed a new mascara, and I went with the NYX Voluptuous mascara from the Lush Lahes line. I wanted a big, bristed brush, which this mascara does have. The formula is quite dry and takes a little longer to apply to a desired effect, but over all I do love this mascara a lot. I don't like the packaging on most of the NYX mascaras, but I like the simplicity of that on this one. I don't have very nice or very long eyelashes, but this mascara elongates, separates, and volumizes my lashes every day. At $7, it's a total steal.

I am always in the market for blushes and lip products, and I knew that these would be marvelous for everyday spring looks. I always need to have something on my lips, even if its just some lip balm, but I also love having a little color on my lips. Tinted lip balms are essential, because they provide the best of both worlds! I already had a butter lip balm from NYX in the color Ladyfingers, which is a brighter pink, but I wanted a subtler color that I could wear every day. I got this one in the color Panna Cotta, which I am adoring so far. It's close enough to the natural shade of my lips that it almost looks like I'm not wearing anything at all, but at the same time its presence really brightens my face.

As for the blush, I think creme blushes are the best for spring and summer. They are pigmented and light, feel more natural, and look more healthy and glow-y.  I got the NYX stick blush in the color Magnolia, which is very bright pink and very pigmented. I love the color so much, but applying too much is a huge danger with these guys, as with any creme blush. Just the right amount, however, looks marvelous for both every day and fancier spring and summer looks.

I switch between using eye shadow and a brow pencil for filling in my eyebrows, and I really wanted something in between the two. I liked the idea of this NYX auto eyebrow pencil crayon which I got in light brown. I was dismayed to find that the pencil/crayon part was quite dry, and not creamy like I had hoped it would be. The worst part is that this is the lightest color they have, and it's still not light enough for my eyebrows, which are not even that light in the first place. The color is not even what it claims to be on the cap, it's got more of a ginger-y undertone, and it doesn't blend very well.

Despite the unfortunate eyebrow product, I am extremely pleased with my new spring-y makeup from NYX! I hope that this has been helpful for anyone else in the market form some inexpensive and cruelty free makeup for the oncoming warm weather!

Thanks for reading, come back soon!
